Cinque Vele classification: the most beautiful waters in Tuscany
Clear and clean waters, with respect for the environment

Where is the most beautiful sea, with crystal clear waters and sustainable land management? The answer is a highly anticipated one this summer. Let's discover the seaside resorts in Tuscany that have been awarded the Vele of Legambiente and the Italian Touring Club.

Topping the ranking of the most beautiful and cleanest waters in Italy is the Maremma, in particular Castiglione della Pescaia (plastic free city), Scarlino, Marina di Grosseto and Follonica.

In Tuscany, the 5 Vele also fly on the island of Capraia, and along the Grosseto "silver coast" of Capalbio, Orbetello, Magliano in Toscana, Monte Argentario and Isola del Giglio.

Even the cleanest places for lake tourism are included. Highlights in Tuscany include Lake Accesa, in the municipality of Massa Marittima, that was awared the 5 Vele.

For many years, "the most beautiful sea" award by the Blue Guide of Legambiente and the Italian Touring Club has inspired the holidays of those who choose their destination on the basis of environmental quality. The guide gives an account of what local coastal administrations are doing to preserve the environment. "The most beautiful sea" presents an account of 45 of the most beautiful seaside areas in Italy, selected from 98 tourist areas evaluated on the basis of environmental characteristics and the quality of hospitality, with the data collected by Legambiente.
