In the Lands of the White Truffle of San Miniato

Riding through the villages of the Terre di Pisa famous for truffles

A 100-km itinerary that takes us to the Terre di Pisa, dedicated to the excavation of the White Truffle, until we reach San Miniato where the annual National Exhibition of the White Truffle is held.

We leave from Casciana Terme in the direction of Ponsacco. After reaching the villages of Montefoscoli - known for its mystical Temple of Minerva Medica - and Palaia we will begin the descent towards Valdarno where, after more than 10 km of flat land, we will begin the short ascent that will lead us to San Miniato, a "Slow food" city.

Once we leave San Miniato, we will proceed in the direction of Calenzano along the ridge that flanks the Via Francigena until we reach Collebrunacchi, and then descend back to the plains.

After passing again by La Serra locality, a narrow climb will make us rise in altitude again and, finally, after 4 km of ups and downs we will reach the historic center of Montopoli in Val d'Arno. From here we will first descend and then climb again just before the village of La Rotta in the direction of Palaia: the road is shaded and climbs in steps with short downhill stretches that will allow us to take a rest.

After 5 km we will start to descend towards Forcoli and after as many km of flat road we will encounter the last real "roughness" of the day that will lead us to Santo Pietro Belvedere. From here another 10 km and one last slight climb and we will find ourselves back in Casciana Terme!
