The silver altar of San Iacopo in Pistoia

An extra-large lightbox to immerse yourself in the details of a masterpiece that involved some of the best goldsmith artists between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries.

The exhibition titled Pistoia Piccola Compostela - The silver altar of San Iacopo in Pistoia features a full-scale reproduction of the altar kept in the Cathedral of San Zeno, with high-impact images created using innovative technologies capable of showing the most small details.

Set up by the architect Simone Martini, it was created to complement the book of the same name with texts by Lucia Gai and photos by Nicolò Begliomini, published in 2019 by Giorgio Tesi Editrice for the "Get closer to Beauty" series.

The exhibition is housed in the baroque church of San Leone, near Piazza del Duomo.

The event is included in the calendar of cultural initiatives that form Pistoia Iacobeo 2021/22.

The initiative, designed by Giorgio Tesi Editrice and The Wall Association, is developed with the support of the Municipality of Pistoia, the CARIPT Foundation, Giorgio Tesi Group and CONAD, in agreement with the Diocese of Pistoia, the Chapter of the Cathedral, the Xunta de Galizia and the University of Santiago, in collaboration with MIBACT and the Italian Center of Compostellan Studies.
