Visit to the Garden of Ancient Roses

The Open Week "From Leonardo to Pinocchio", in its seventh edition, is the initiative that promotes the tourism excellence of the Valdinievole, an event that aims to enhance territories with a rich artistic and cultural history by promoting special events and local tourist attractions.

The third event organized by the Municipality of Cerreto Guidi will be held on Saturday, May 4. Scheduled is a guided tour of the charming Garden of Ancient Roses at "La Villetta" Farm. Participants will have the opportunity to visit a place as enchanting as it is unique, in the countryside of Poggio Tempesti, on the ridge of Cerreto Guidi overlooking Padule di Fucecchio.

The Villetta is a unique place with a cultivation of nearly a thousand rose bushes positioned on terraces representing the history of roses, paying homage to the cultures that grew and celebrated them. Each terrace is a journey to distant eras, from the terrace of the roses of the Romans to immerse yourself in Ancient Rome, with varieties that evoke the greatness of the history of this population, moving on to the terrace of Islam with their shapes and scents that recall Islamic culture, and then the roses of the Medici, known for their beauty properties and health benefits.

At the end of this experience, participants will have the opportunity to taste some of the natural products derived from these roses, directly experiencing their unique scents and flavors.
