Trekking on Monte Pelato and valle della Luna
Spectacular itinerary of 17 kilometers to discover the coastal hills above Castiglioncello
In this excursion, we won't limit ourselves to a simple coastal walk; we will discover in great detail the extraordinary geo-botanical ecosystems and the mining history of the place, all while enjoying breathtaking views.
We will wander through the dense scrubland towards the “botri” of Masaccio and Fortulla, where we'll discover the old magnesite mines of Campolecciano and Escafrullina. The material was extracted from these mines and transported to the Gulf of Forbici via a cableway.
We will visit the stunning site of the Valle della Luna, where the bare green rocks create a rugged and wild environment dotted in spring with rare and colourful botanical endemism. Finally, we'll reach the balcony of Monte Carvoli, the site of an Etruscan settlement from the 3rd century BC, where we'll enjoy magnificent coastal views.
After a picnic stop overlooking the Archipelago, we will hike along the ridge to reach the top of another marvellous panoramic viewpoint, Monte Pelato. We will enjoy incomparable views of the coast and islands, which will accompany us to the conclusion of this unusual and spectacular excursion.
The tour will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2024 with departure at 9 a.m.

Cancellation

The guide reserves the right to make changes to the hike to ensure the safety of the group, or to cancel the hike in case of bad weather and/or alertness.
The excursion will be confirmed upon reaching a minimum of 8 people (25 people maximum)
