The Etruscans in Volterra
History of mystery and magic: on the trail of the Etruscan civilization with a guided tour of the village and the Etruscan Museum

Volterra is a town of ancient origins that stands on the top of a hill located between the valleys of the Era and Cecina rivers.

In this offer, we propose a tour of the historic city and a visit to the Guarnacci Etruscan Museum, where you can discover the Etruscan civilization, its history, and the technical skills of that people who influenced all the peoples of that period, and beyond.

The museum is noted for its important collection of cinerary urns, housing over 600 that are mostly decorated with bas-reliefs and covered with a sculpture representing the deceased. The collection is the largest in the world. From the representations carved on the urns, it’s possible to learn many details about the culture and daily life of the time.
