About one kilometer from the historic center of Montecatini Val di Cecina is the ancient copper mine of Caporciano, used from the Etruscan era until 1900. The recovery of an ancient productive place has boosted a fascinating journey between history and memory in the footsteps of the miners, through tunnels, wells and industrial archaeology.
The Mining Museum, housed in the fourteenth-century Palazzo Pretorio in Montecatini, is also part of the tour circuit and illustrates the wide range of resources, locations and activities related to the sector.
After this visit you will taste a selection of local cold cuts and cheese, have lunch in a farmhouse or in a typical restaurant and then take part in a cooking class where you will learn to cook some typical Tuscan dishes: at the end of the lesson you will delight your palate with a magnificent dinner.
