During the visit, you will learn more about the geological origin of this material, about the history of excavation and transportation of marble and about the methods for the making of a marble statue by visiting a sculpture workshop to see the marble craftsmen at work.

Meet the driver-guide and depart to the Carrara marble valleys, along the route some photo-stops by the most scenic places are prevented. Then drive up to (almost) 1000 m. Altitude to see (on working days) the marble quarries in activity from a safe place located about 20 meters from the area of operations.
Surrounded by the imposing marble mountains, it will be easier to understand the geological origin of Carrara marble and enjoy the breathtaking views unique in the world.
Afterwards, visit the Quarry Museum, an historical exhibition of tools and machinery used throughout the centuries for the excavation and transportation of marble.
The happy ending of the excursion, is the visit of marble workshop to see the sculptors at work (closed Saturday afternoon and Sunday) and learn about the methods and tools need for creating marble works.
