Designed by Giovanni Michelucci and telling the story of the contrada in Siena

The Musum of the Contrada del Valdimontone is located in Siena in a building designed by famous architect Giovanni Michelucci in 1974 and finished, after his death, in 1997 by Bruno Sacchi. The museum is found right next to the Oratory of the Santissimi Trinità dating back to the 16th century, with exquisite internal décor in a Mannerist and Baroque style.

The museum tour also includes the Oratory of San Leonardo, a 17th century building, refurbished several times over the years, whose current appearance dates back to the Neoclassical reconstruction carried out in 1822. Montures and other items belonging to the contrada are on display, while the contrada’s winning Palios are on display in the new rooms designed by Michelucci and opened in 1997.
