An exhibition of winning Palio banners, historic antiques and period costumes

The headquarters of the Museum of the Contrada della Pantera (Contrada of the Panther) are located on the San Quirico hill, one of the highest points of Siena. The museum illustrates the contrada’s history and preserves its historic artefacts: the Palii won throughout the 19th century, two important sets of wooden altar ornaments and archival documents dating back to 1684.

On the ground floor, the contrada’s nine Palii won during the 20th century are preserved, as well as works of art, furnishings and sacred vestments. On the upper floor, costumes, the contrada’s trophies and some antiques are conserved.

Additionally, there is a hall dedicated to the renown opera singer and triumphant captain Ettore Bastianini, including period photos, letters and original stage costumes.
