Relaxation and well-being at a thermal center among the Apennine peaks

In the evocative mountain landscape of Pontremoli, among the peaks of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, we find the Lunigiana thermal springs. They are fed by the rising thermal springs that come from the small village of Cavezza d’Antena.

The thermal centre in the mountains is situated 900 meters above sea level, along the Strada della Cisa, in the hamlet of Montelungo. This is an area to explore, taking the centuries-old Via Francigena, through magnificent countryside and small villages rich in ancient heritage.

Sulphurous thermal water surfaces from the spring in Cavezzana, drinking this water is recommended for the treatment of gastrointestinal illnesses, and inhalations can help cure problems with the respiratory and otolaryngologic systems.

Dermatological issues, like psoriasis, dermatitis, eczma and rheumatic problems, can also be cured by immersions in sulphur water baths.

Osteoarticular treatment also achieves great benefits through the use of mud, matured for at least six months in the water from the springs.

The treatments at the Lugiana thermal baths are affiliated with the National Healthcare Service.
