Dynamo Oasis
Excursions through nature in the WWF reserve in the Pistoiese Apennines.

The Dynamo Oasis (formerly Oasi Cesto del Lupo) is a nature reserve affiliated with the WWF, formed in 2006 from the recovery of an old hunting reserve. It's located on the Pistoiese Apennines, in the municipality of San Marcello Piteglio, and extends over a mountainous area of over 900 hectares about 1,100 meters above sea level.

The area is characterized by large deciduous and coniferous forests, meadows and high pastures.

From a faunal point of view, the area is particularly interesting: first of all, there's the wolf, a symbol of the Oasis, that has recently spontaneously returned to the Pistoia Apennines. You can also see roe deer, mouflons, red deer, fallow deer and wild boar. Without forgetting porcupines, squirrels, dormice, foxes and birds of prey such as the goshawk, hawk, buzzards and the golden eagle.

In the Oasis, in addition to scientific research and actions to safeguard and present the territory, numerous recreational activities take place: sporting and naturalistic excursions, environmental education, summer camps, experiences to learn about the flora and fauna of the Apennines, events for sportsmen, families, adults and children. Unique of its kind in Italy, it sees a full synergy between conservation, management, knowledge and environmental use and social activism.
